A small start-up Prospress will allow Automattic to join the emerging market of e-commerce push subscriptions. Automattic, the company behind WordPress.com and WooCommerce, acquired Start-up Prospress because it plans to expand its digital subscription offer.

A small start is being known as developing a recurring payment solution specifically designed for WooCommerce, called WooCommerce subscription.

By acquiring Prospress, Automattic can collect its customers regularly through a digital subscription to WooCommerce while controlling most of the electronic commerce piles.
In addition to subscribing to WooCommerce, Prospress has also developed several other online tools, including a marketing automation tool to remind customers when they leave the shopping cart when they shop online and a tool to test online functions. cashier before shipping.

After the acquisition is complete, the Prospress team will continue to work on its own products by joining other WooCommerce teams.

The company currently has 20 employees who provide an overview of its size compared to Automattic, which has 900 employees.

Shopify, which competes directly with WooCommerce, does not provide subscriptions and customers must rely on third-party products such as Bold or ReCharge.

WooCommerce payment manager Paul Maiorana said in his press release that Prospress would help the company create a subscription model by stating:

The e-commerce subscription market has grown by more than 100% per year in the past five years. Subscriptions are an important part of the WooCommerce experience. Therefore, we are pleased to work more closely with Brent Shepherd, CEO of Foresight, and his team to create integrated and flexible solutions.
