Ever Wondered Where Jesus (Well, the Actors Playing Him) Walked on Water? Texas, Apparently!
Ever since "The Chosen" burst onto the scene, fans have been obsessed with this unique take on the life of Christ. But let's be honest, there's a part of us that wonders: could we walk where Jesus walked (or at least, where the very talented actor portraying him did)? Well, buckle up, pilgrim, because you might just be able to mosey on down to Texas for a biblical-themed field trip!
Two Studios, Two Journeys Through Time
Now, "The Chosen" hasn't exactly been a one-stop filming shop. They've journeyed across the great state of Texas, setting up shop in two main locations:
-
Capernaum Studios: This place sounds like a breakfast cereal for scholars of the Bible, but it's actually a studio specializing in all things first-century. They filmed Seasons 1 and 2 here, building an awesome recreated village set. The bad news? As of October 2022, public tours seem to be on hiatus. So, getting in might require some serious divine intervention (or knowing the right people).
-
Camp Hoblitzelle: This is the Promised Land for Seasons 4 and beyond. Located in Midlothian, Texas, it boasts a permanent set designed specifically for "The Chosen." The good news? They do offer tours! So, if you've ever dreamed of strolling through the marketplace where Jesus (or at least his stunt double) might have done his shopping, this is your chance.
So You Wanna Be a Biblical Tourist, Huh?
Hold your horses (or should we say, donkeys?) There are a few things to consider before you pack your sandals and head to Texas:
- Do your research! Check the websites of both Capernaum Studios and Camp Hoblitzelle for the latest info on tours.
- Plan your trip. Texas is a big state, and depending on which set you visit, you might need to factor in some travel time.
- Embrace the pilgrimage spirit. Whether you're a die-hard fan of the show or just curious about stepping into a recreated Biblical world, pack your sense of adventure!
Now, visiting a movie set might not be exactly like walking in the footsteps of Jesus himself. But hey, it's about as close as most of us will get. Besides, who knows? You might even snag a selfie with Mary Magdalene (or at least the actress who plays her) in between takes!
