Howdy, Partner! How Many PGA Tournaments Can You Wrangle Up in Texas?
Ever felt the Texas sun beat down on your back as you whack a little white ball down a fairway longer than a rattlesnake's strike? Yeah, Texas golf is a whole different animal. But if you're planning a trip to the Lone Star State and itching for some PGA Tour action, you might be askin' yourself: just how many tournaments are we talkin' about?
Yeehaw! Texas Takes a Swing at PGA Glory
Well, saddle up, because here's the lowdown: Texas two-steps with the PGA Tour on a pretty regular basis. In fact, for 2024, the state boasts a mighty fine three PGA Tournaments. That's more golf than you can shake a hickory stick at!
Let's Tee Off with the Texan Trio:
-
The CJ Cup Byron Nelson (May 2nd-5th): This tournament, held at TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney, Texas, is a real knee-slapper. It's got history, dating all the way back to 1942, and it's seen some of the biggest names in golf tee off. Who knows, you might even snag an autograph from a PGA pro (just don't ask them to hold your horse).
-
The Charles Schwab Challenge (May 23rd-26th): Head on down to Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth for this hootenanny. This PGA Tour staple is known for its tight fairways and tricky greens, so you better bring your A-game (and maybe a flask of sweet tea for those long afternoons).
Hold your horses! There used to be a fourth Texas tournament, the Valero Texas Open. But fear not, golf fans! This tournament simply shifted locations to San Antonio and is still going strong.
So, There You Have It, Partner!
Texas might be big, but its PGA Tour offerings are mighty fine. With three tournaments to choose from, you're sure to find some world-class golf to sink your teeth (or rather, your clubs) into. Just remember to pack your sunscreen, your cowboy hat (optional, but highly encouraged), and your best golf game. Texas ain't for the faint of swing!
