The Great New York City Snowpocalypse of... Nevermind, It's Just April
Ah, New Yorkers. Ever the bunch to prepare for anything, especially the weather apocalypse that never quite seems to arrive (except for that time in 2016, we don't talk about 2016). So, what's on the docket for this thrilling Friday in April? Snow? A blizzard so fierce it'll make even the pigeons take cover?
Hold your horses (or should we say, shovels?) because the answer might surprise you.
Not a Snowflake in Sight: The Truth About NYC's "Winter Wonderland"
According to the lovely folks at the National Weather Service, also known as the official arbiters of all things rain, shine, and flurries, New York City is in for a day of sunshine and pleasant temperatures. We're talking highs in the low 60s – perfect weather to finally ditch that bulky winter coat and pretend spring has officially sprung, which, by the way, it totally has.
But Wait, There's More (Because Weather Forecasts Can Be Fickle)
Now, before you dust off your flip-flops and head straight for the ice cream truck, there's a teeny tiny chance (think winning the lottery with a Powerball ticket you found under the couch) of some afternoon showers rolling in tomorrow. But fear not, these are more likely to be the kind of showers you take after a long day at work, not the kind that require galoshes.
So, Can We Officially Retire the Snow Shovel Yet?
Maybe. Probably. Unless you're one of those New Yorkers who thrives on the chaos of a surprise snow flurry, in which case, feel free to keep your shovel on standby. But for the rest of us, it looks like we can safely tuck away those winter woolies and embrace the (hopefully) glorious arrival of spring.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a date with a park bench, a good book, and a serious dose of vitamin D.
