How To Change The Language On Hulu

Hulu and You: A Quest to Speak the Same Lingo (Because Apparently You Didn't Pick French in High School)

Let's face it, we've all been there. You fire up Hulu, eager to catch the latest episode of that show everyone's raving about, only to be met with a barrage of... well, gibberish. Did Hulu accidentally switch to a secret language reserved for squirrels? Did you accidentally click on an ancient Latvian goat herding documentary (hey, no judgement there)? Fear not, fellow couch potato, for this guide will have you navigating the multilingual maze of Hulu in no time!

Mission: Language Liberation!

First things first, don't panic. Those subtitles in Klingon are not a sign of an impending alien invasion (although, that would be a pretty cool crossover episode). We simply need to adjust your Hulu settings to a language you, you glorious human you, can understand.

The Gear: Your Weapon of Choice

While we're not exactly Jason Bourne here, there is a secret weapon at your disposal. Look closely at your screen. Do you see that little gear icon? That, my friend, is your key to linguistic liberation. Click the gear icon (seriously, it won't explode) and a menu of options shall appear.

Operation: Subtitle Sleuth

Now, depending on your situation, you have two possible goals:

  • Subtitles in a Language You Understand: Do you crave the comfort of your native tongue, or perhaps want to brush up on your Spanish with some telenovela action? Look for the section titled "Subtitles" or "Audio and Subtitles". Here, you'll find a delightful smorgasbord of languages. Select your language of choice and voila! Suddenly, those shows become much more watchable.

  • Changing the Audio Language (Because Maybe You Actually Did Take French): Feeling adventurous? Want to experience your favorite show in its original French glory (or, you know, any other language they offer)? This option might be hiding under the same "Subtitles" menu, or it might have its own dedicated section labelled "Audio". Find it, choose your language, and let the linguistic immersion commence!

Important Note: Not all shows on Hulu are Don Juan-esque and filmed in a multitude of languages. Sometimes, that option just won't be there. But fear not, there's a good chance the show you desire exists in your preferred language. Just head back to the main menu and search for the show's title, adding your desired language in parentheses after the title. For example, if you desperately need "Bob's Burgers" in Spanish, type in "Bob's Burgers (Spanish)". Hulu will then (hopefully) present you with the Spanish version of the show.

Congratulations! You've successfully conquered the language barrier on Hulu. Now get back to that show and enjoy it in all its linguistic glory (or lack thereof, depending on your choices).
