Let's face it, taming that perfect Trex is all well and good, but who wants to spend hours gathering measly experience points when you could be out there riding said Trex and accidentally flattening a village? This guide will turn you from a beach bob to a power player, but be warned, there will be jokes (terrible ones, I assure you), and maybe a few tips that might bend the rules... slightly.
The Natural Grind: Earning XP the Old-Fashioned Way (Which is Also the Slow Way)
- Creature Cuddling: This one's a classic. Tame everything in sight, especially those adorable tickle chickens (they're also known as Compsognathus, but who needs boring scientific names when you can live in fear of their feathery fury?).
- The Thrill of the Hunt: Grab your spear and some courage (or a really big gun) and go forth to slay! Every dino that falls before your might will contribute a precious trickle of XP. Just be sure you can actually take down what you're poking with a stick.
- Crafting Champion: Who knew making a poncho could be so rewarding? Okay, maybe not rewarding, but crafting pretty much anything will inch that XP bar forward. Start a clothing line, build a majestic Thatch palace, the possibilities are endless (as long as those possibilities involve a crafting menu).
This method is perfectly acceptable for those who enjoy a leisurely stroll on the beach at sunset... with a club in their hand ready to bludgeon unsuspecting wildlife.
The Not-So-Natural Grind: Admin Abuse for the Impatient (Use with Caution)
If you're the type who likes your results immediately (and by "results" we mean levels, not crippling carpal tunnel), then this section is for you. But a word of warning: Only use these methods on a private server, or prepare to get the boot.
- The Admin Whisperer: Are you the benevolent dictator of your own ARK world? Then pat yourself on the back because you have access to the admin panel, a magical place filled with commands that can make XP rain from the heavens (or at least your character). Look up commands like "addexperience" and "GiveExpToPlayer" (we won't tell anyone you looked it up).
- The Single-Player Saviour: Single player mode is your oyster, my friend! Here, you can unleash your inner cheat code champion without fear of reprisal. Just remember, absolute power corrupts absolutely, and soon you might be riding a level 99 Dodo into battle (which would still be hilarious, to be fair).
