Severide's Farewell Tour: A Series of Unfortunate Departures (and Returns, Thank Goodness)
Let's face it, Kelly Severide has a talent for disappearing acts. This firefighter's exits from Firehouse 51 have been about as smooth as a flaming couch on roller skates. Buckle up, because we're diving into the curious case of Severide's Houdini-esque escapes.
Season 11: The Great Severide Disappearing Act
Remember that time Severide vanished like a magician's rabbit? Poof! Gone. Turns out, he got whisked away to some top-secret arson investigation in, like, Alabama or somewhere equally exciting (said no one ever). Radio silence ensued, leaving Stella fuming and the rest of Squad wondering if he'd joined the witness protection program.
Did he leave for good? We held our breath for episodes, only to be rewarded with a gruff and slightly-tanned Severide returning in Season 12. Apparently, catching firebugs is way more thrilling than catching up with your wife (whoops!).
Season 12: The Arizona Adventure (and More Marital Woes)
Just when things were getting (slightly) stable between Stella and Severide, along comes another irresistible arson case, this time all the way in Arizona. Cue the dramatic music. This time, though, Stella (bless her) decided to be the supportive firefighter wife and gave him the go-ahead. But with a stern warning about staying in touch (and no funny business, Severide!).
So, is this the REAL goodbye? Only time will tell. As of now, our fearless Lieutenant is chasing fire starters in the desert, hopefully learning his lesson about communication (and maybe stocking up on sunscreen).
One Thing's for Sure: We Love Severide (Even When He Drives Us Crazy)
Despite his disappearing tendencies, Severide's a core member of Firehouse 51. He's brave, skilled, and has a heart of gold (even if it's occasionally buried under a pile of firefighting bravado). Here's hoping he catches his Arizona arsonist soon and gets back to Chicago, for good this time (with a peace offering for Stella, of course).
In the meantime, we'll be here, holding down the fort at Firehouse 51, waiting for Severide's inevitable (and hopefully dramatic) return. Maybe this time he'll bring back souvenirs (other than a questionable tan).
