Chicago Med: Still Saving Lives (and Occasionally Our Sanity) After All These Years
Ah, Chicago Med. The fictional Gaffney Chicago Medical Center, where drama unfolds faster than a patient with a critical case of the hiccups. But hey, at least it's entertaining, right? We all love watching those gorgeous doctors (seriously, have you seen Ethan Choi? Dreamboat status) battle medical mysteries and personal demons in equal measure.
But the question that's been nagging at you while you munch popcorn during an April Sexton slow-mo walk (because, let's be honest, we've all been there): how long has this medical rollercoaster been on our screens?
The Doc Says: It's Been a Long and Stethoscope-Wielding Ride
Brace yourselves, because buckle up for some medical drama history. Chicago Med first premiered on NBC way back in November 2015. That's right, folks, it's been almost nine whole years of witnessing heart transplants, diagnosing the bizarre, and trying to figure out if Will Halstead will ever settle down (jury's still out on that one).
Nine years! That's enough time for a medical student to become a seasoned attending, for Natalie Manning to win Surgeon of the Year...several times (come on, the woman's a surgical rockstar!), and for Sharon Goodwin to perfect her never-ending supply of exasperated sighs.
So basically, Chicago Med has been there for all our medical drama needs for nearly a decade. We've seen breakups, makeups, medical miracles, and enough close calls to make us question if that attending over there has ever actually gotten a full night's sleep.
But hey, that's the magic of Chicago Med, isn't it? It keeps us guessing, keeps us entertained, and sometimes even makes us shed a tear (or two, or ten) for our favorite characters.
Here's to many more years (and seasons) of medical mayhem in the Windy City! And who knows, maybe one day we'll even get to see Dr. Choi crack a smile (don't hold your breath, though).
