The Great Chicago Snowpocalypse of May 5th... Did it Deliver?
Cue dramatic music...
Just kidding! Relax, folks, it wasn't that bad.
But hey, at least Chicago got a sprinkling of snow this weekend. Fun fact: A sprinkling is an official meteorological term, defined as less than 0.01 inches of snow accumulation. ❄️
So, while the snow may not have reached "blizzard" status, it did provide a thrilling opportunity for Chicagoans to dig out their winter coats...in May. Because, why not?
Winter's Last Gasp: A Flurry of Fun or a Sign of the Apocalypse?
Let's be honest, this late-season snow was more of a quirky inconvenience than a winter wonderland. But it did give us a chance to witness some classic Chicagoan behavior:
- The Overly Prepared: These folks were ready with shovels in hand, bundling up their kids like Michelin Men, and stocking up on milk and bread as if a Category 5 snownado was imminent.
- The Confused Tourist: Wandering around in shorts and flip-flops, utterly bewildered by the sight of flurries. Bless their summery souls.
- The Social Media Braggart: Their Instagram feeds were flooded with dramatic selfies with captions like "Winter isn't over yet! #ChicagoStrong."
All's Well That Ends Well (With Hardly a Trace of Snow)
All in all, a pretty unremarkable snowfall for Chicago. But hey, at least it gave us something to talk about, right?
Besides, May snow in the Windy City is practically a tradition at this point. Maybe next year we'll get a whole 0.02 inches! We can all dream big, right?
