A Brief History of Women on the Bench
Believe it or not, there was a time when the very idea of a woman judge was as shocking as a cowboy wearing heels. But fear not, progress has been made, even in the land of ten-gallon hats and barbecue.
While Texas wasn’t exactly leading the charge, we did have our moment of feminist glory in 1925. For a brief, shining moment, the entire Texas Supreme Court was made up of women. Talk about girl power! Unfortunately, that moment was as fleeting as a tumbleweed in a tornado.
Fast forward to the present, and the situation is a bit more balanced. There are currently four women serving on the Texas Supreme Court. That's right, four!
