Chicago Fire: The Great Exodus

Is Firehouse 51 becoming a revolving door?

Okay, so, we've all been there. You're comfortably settled into your favorite TV show, a world where you know the characters better than your own family (well, maybe not that well, but you get the point). And then BAM! Someone ups and leaves. And it’s not just one person, it’s like a mass exodus! We’re talking about Chicago Fire here, people.

Who’s Out the Door?

Let's start with the obvious: Jesse Spencer (Matt Casey). The man, the myth, the legend. He decided to swap the Windy City for the Pacific Northwest. We still haven’t recovered. Then there’s Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer). She decided to join Casey in Portland, leaving a gaping hole in our hearts and Firehouse 51. And let’s not forget Blake Gallo (Alberto Rosende). He decided to take a break from all the drama (and probably the endless supply of coffee) to spend some quality time with family.

New Faces, New Troubles

Just when you think you can handle the loss, enter Rome Flynn. His character, Carver, was like a breath of fresh air (or was it smoke? We're not sure yet). But alas, his stay was as brief as a Chicago summer. And then there’s the matter of Taylor Kinney (Kelly Severide). He took a little break (or maybe a longer one, we’re still not sure) to deal with some personal stuff. We hope he comes back soon because Firehouse 51 just isn’t the same without him.

Why is Everyone Leaving?

We can speculate all day, but honestly, who knows? Maybe they're all tired of fighting fires, or maybe they just want to try their hand at reality TV. Or perhaps, just perhaps, the writers are trying to keep us on our toes. Whatever the reason, it’s making for a pretty dramatic season.
