To accept airdrops you need to have your AirDrop set to receive from contacts everyone. When you receive an AirDrop a notification will automatically pop up on your screen letting you know it's available. Simply tap "accept" to download the file. Additionally you can enable AirDrop in Control Center to quickly access and share files. In control center simply tap on the AirDrop icon to view and share nearby devices.
