If you are a content creator or streamer, you probably already know OBS (Open Broadcasting Software) as one of the most popular tools for collecting and distributing your content. However, encountering the dreaded OBS black screen on Windows 11 can be a frustrating experience. But don't worry! In this blog post, we will explore four effective methods to fix the OBS black screen issue and get your recording or live stream back on track. Let's dive in and solve this problem together!
Update the OBS and Illustrations Drivers
The OBS dark screen issue could be caused by an outdated version of OBS or inconsistent design drivers. To address this, use the following methods:
- Navigate to the Assistance menu in OBS.
- Click "Check for Updates" to ensure OBS is up to date.
- Now is an excellent opportunity to update your illustration drivers. Select "Gadget Administrator" from the menu that appears after pressing the Windows + X keys.
- Expand the "Show connectors" section, right-click your graphics card, and select "Update driver."
- Select "Search consequently for refreshed driver programming" to allow Windows to locate and install the most recent drivers.
Change the OBS Similarity Settings
OBS may not always be fully compatible with Windows 11, resulting in the dark screen issue. To get around this, try altering the similarity settings:
- Right-click the OBS alternate method or executable and choose "Properties."
- Navigate to the "Similarity" tab in the Properties window.

- Under "Designs execution inclination," click "Peruse."
- Add the OBS executable (obs64.exe) and configure it to use "Superior execution."
- Select "Elite execution" as the default designs processor for OBS in the "Choices" dialog box.
